Alopecia Areata Awareness Month - National Alopecia Areata Foundation | NAAF

Alopecia Areata Awareness Month

September is Alopecia Areata Awareness Month

Alopecia Areata Awareness Month is a month-long celebration and recognition of all those affected by alopecia areata.

During September, the NAAF community works to increase awareness, reduce stigma, and empower those living with alopecia areata locally and nationally.

Here are just a few of the ways you can help:

LET’S DO SOMETHING ABOUT ALOPECIA AREATA!

Walk with us in a community near you on Saturday, September 27! Register today for the Walk For Alopecia™ Presented by Pfizer, the world’s biggest alopecia areata fundraising and awareness campaign!

Join us at one of our Flagship Sites in San Francisco and Philadelphia, 20+ community volunteer-led walk sites, or Walk Where You Are as a team or individual in your neighborhood.

SUPPORT OUR COMMUNITY

  • Download an Awareness Month flyer to share across social media and with friends to raise awareness of alopecia areata.
  • Make a personal donation to NAAF. Visit naaf.org/matching to see if your employer or your spouse’s employer will match your contribution.
  • Host a ‘Do It Yourself’ fundraiser by creating an event in your neighborhood or community. Ask your book club, running club, cycling group, community group, etc. to help you!
  • Donate stock/securities, property, or include NAAF in your will or estate plan by contacting Kris Van Osnabrugge.
  • Donate your car, truck, motorcycle, or RV to NAAF.

RAISE AWARENESS AND EDUCATE OTHERS

  • Follow NAAF on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and X. Please like and repost our content!
  • Hold or sponsor a family-friendly awareness event in your area.
  • Share alopecia areata education brochures at public libraries, community centers, or other popular places. Download here and print.
  • Contact your local newspaper, television, and radio stations and arrange for a personal interview.

ADVOCATE FOR ALOPECIA AREATA

  • Sign up as an advocate and learn how to reach out to your elected officials about legislation that impacts the alopecia areata community.
  • Become a Teen Advocacy Fellow (ages 13-17) and work with other teens to share your alopecia areata journey to create change. It’s a great academic resume builder!
  • Learn more about NAAF’s advocacy agenda and how you can take action to help our lawmakers understand that alopecia areata is an autoimmune disease and it’s not just hair.
