Teen Advocacy Fellows

Your Community, Your Change

Change starts when people dare to speak up. New treatments exist today, in part, because teens bravely told legislators and policymakers about their experiences and what they wanted for their future

Teen Advocacy Fellows is a program designed for teens to work together to tell the stories that create change.

The details:

  • The Fellowship is a one-year commitment
  • The goal: Meet with both of your U.S. senators and your representative to talk about your alopecia areata experience and ask for their support for change
  • You’ll meet with other fellows throughout the year to learn about advocacy, share ideas, ask questions, and track meeting progress
  • You’ll have the opportunity to challenge yourself and other fellows to find new and creative ways to tell your stories and deliver your message

Fellows are mentored by our volunteer Fellowship Coordinator, Abby TerHaar.

If you’re between the ages of 13-17, complete our interest form to become a fellow. Forms are due on October 31, 2025.

Fellows are welcomed in December and will get started in January 2026.

Are you up for the challenge?
