NAAF Launches the Confidence Guide

NAAF is excited to share a new resource created with and for the alopecia areata community: the Confidence Guide—a practical guide to wigs, makeup, and everyday tools that can help individuals navigate hair loss on their own terms.

Living with alopecia areata is a deeply personal experience. Some people choose wigs, brows, or lashes. Others prefer scarves, hats, or nothing at all. Many move between these choices from day to day. The Confidence Guide was developed to honor that individuality—offering information and options without pressure to look or live a certain way.

Within the guide, you’ll find:

  • Clear, beginner-friendly tips for selecting and caring for wigs and toppers
  • Gentle makeup techniques for brows and lashes
  • Practical advice for protecting and caring for sensitive scalp skin
  • Plus video tutorials, links to webinars, and downloadable resources

The new Confidence Guide does not tell anyone what they should do. Instead, it provides tools so those living with alopecia areata can decide what feels most comfortable, confident, and authentic for them.

The Confidence Guide was shaped by feedback from people living with alopecia areata, as well as stylists and makeup artists who care deeply about this community. We are grateful to everyone who shared their experiences to make this resource possible. Many thanks to Abby Andrew (AbbyAndrew.com), Kim Chacon (Confidence Guide Volunteer Team Lead), Lisa Dutra, (NAAF Phone Support Volunteer), Lee Hoff and Morgan Moore (Morgan & Morgan NHR and Inclusive Crowns), and Kim Roxie (LAMIK Beauty) for their contributions.
