Year:
2013 to 2015
Investigator-Initiated Research Grant Opportunities
Ali Jabbari, MD, PhD, Principal Investigator
Columbia University

To identify genetic biomarkers expressed in alopecia areata.

Significance

A biomarker is important to measure the progress of disease and/or the effects of treatment and will be crucial for monitoring improvements during clinical trials in alopecia areata and determining who may benefit from which treatment(s).

Purpose

NAAF provided skin and blood samples from teh Alopecia AReata Registry, Biobank & clinical T rials Network for investigations to identify genetic biomarkers expressed in alopecia areata.  This set of exploratory biomarkers will later be validated.
