September is Alopecia Areata Awareness Month

Join us for Fundraising & Awareness Activities

Throughout the month of September, we will be fundraising for NAAF and working to increase awareness of alopecia areata in communities across the nation.

This has been a big year so far for our community and September is your time to shine! The theme for this year’s campaign is Alopecia All-Stars.  We want you to join us in raising awareness and funds to support NAAF’s mission!

Here are 5 EASY ways to become an All-Star:

  1. In a short video tell us who is your Alopecia All-Star!  It could be a family member, a teacher, a dermatologist, someone you admire who lives with alopecia – anyone you look up to, are inspired by, or who makes your alopecia journey easier.  Please send your video to Gary Sherwood via email AND share on your social media.

  2. Hold a fundraiser!  It is so easy!  Set up a campaign around a special occasion or a favorite activity: birthday, anniversary, running, hiking, walking, cycling, sporting event, gaming.  When you raise $100 you will receive an All-Star t-shirt.  Use this link and create a fundraising page: Alopecia All-Stars.

  3. Host an Awareness Day at your school or work or in your neighborhood.  Ask your school administrators if you can set up a table in the cafeteria at lunch or at a sporting event to share information. Ask your employer to help host a ‘lunch and learn’ at your work to tell colleagues about alopecia areata and NAAF.

  4. Alopecia All-Star Awareness Day is September 17th!  Host a walk around your neighborhood wearing your Alopecia All-Star t-shirt. Post photos of you and your team members in your Alopecia All-Star t-shirts on your social media page.  Send an email to your friends and family asking them to donate to your campaign that day!  Watch for details of prizes!

  5. Attend or organize a Team Up Awareness Event with your local sports team.  Contact Gary@naaf.org for details.

Here are more ways you can join us and have fun:

  • Arrange to display and distribute alopecia areata education brochures at public libraries, community venters or other popular places.

  • Contact local newspaper, television and radio stations and arrange for a personal interview.

If you have any questions, need materials or would like help in deciding the best way for you to become an Alopecia All-Star, contact NAAF at sherrie@naaf.org or call 901-210-3408.

Let’s make this Awareness Month the most memorable one yet!
