Passage of 2015 Omnibus Package Means Greater Federal Funding Available for Research

Feb 10, 2015

The bipartisan fiscal year (FY) 2015 omnibus appropriations package which passed in December will provide $30.08 billion for the National Institutes of Health (NIH), an increase of $149.7 million over FY 2014.  This is very welcome news for the alopecia areata community, as significant federal funding for alopecia areata research comes from NIH and NAAF applauds the efforts of all House members and Senators who worked together to craft this package and voted for its passage.  We also wish to commend NAAF’s Alopecia Areata Legislative Liaisons who met with their representatives both at home and in Washington, DC to ask for increased NIH funding.  If you would like to learn more about the Alopecia Areata Legislative Liaison program, please contact Gary Sherwood, gary@naaf.org.
