2019 Research Funding Opportunities Announced at Dermatology Meeting

May 31, 2019

We’re excited to publicize the release of NAAF’s Research Funding Announcements (RFAs), which seek research applications related to all aspects of alopecia areata, including (1) basic research offering leads for a cure or prevention, (2) translational and clinical studies offering high-impact results and immediate benefits, and (3) research to quantify and qualify biological, psychosocial and economic impacts.

These RFAs were advertised at the 77th Annual Society for Investigative Dermatology (SID) Meeting held May 8 to 11 in Chicago, Illinois. This year’s meeting featured over 30 alopecia areata–related posters and oral presentations. NAAF staff in attendance had the opportunity to meet with early-career investigators, network with industry partners, and hear from seasoned researchers at the Foundation’s Research Advisory Council Meeting. This conference served as a fitting venue to publicize our research funding opportunities since it draws a diverse group of senior researchers and clinicians as well as early-career trainees and residents from a variety of fields.

Prospective applicants are encouraged to review NAAF’s funding priorities and targeted research aims set forth at recent NAAF Research Summits.  Awards range from $40,000 to $100,000, and applications are due July 31, 2019. Click here to learn more.
