Type 1 Diabetes TrialNet (TrialNet) is an international network of researchers who are exploring ways to prevent, delay and reverse the progression of type 1 diabetes. Alopecia Areata families have a higher incidence of other autoimmune diseases, including type 1 diabetes (T1D). Relatives of someone with T1D have 15 to 20 times the risk to develop the disease. TrialNet is offering T1D risk screening to blood relatives of someone with T1D through a blood test performed at no cost and available anywhere in the US.
