A research study conducted at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is recruiting volunteers diagnosed with alopecia areata to donate skin samples via a tool called a punch biopsy. These volunteers will also donate blood via a simple blood draw. These samples will then be analyzed to identify genes and proteins that predispose to inflammatory diseases like alopecia areata. By identifying these markers, better diagnostic tests and treatments can be developed in the future. Participation in this study would require at least one visit at UCSF plus an additional visit for suture removal. Participants will be compensated $200.
