Study to Investigate the Efficacy and Safety of an Oral Investigational Medication in Patients with Alopecia Areata
A clinical research study is currently looking for adults with moderate-to-severe alopecia areata to participate in a study to evaluate the safety and efficacy of an investigational drug. The study consists of an investigational oral drug that will be administered once daily, for 24 weeks. This investigational drug is experimental, and you will have 2 in 3 chance of receiving investigational drug and a 1 in 3 chance of receiving a placebo (an inactive pill). After the initial 24 weeks are completed, participants may receive the investigational drug for an additional 28 weeks where there will be no placebo.
During the study visits, several assessments and procedures will be conducted to assess your eligibility for the study. This study will last a period of up to 13 months and up to 15 visits. Your participation in this study is at no cost to you.
You may qualify to participate if you:
- are between 18 and 70 years old
- have alopecia areata
- have at least 50% scalp hair loss*
*study doctor will assess your amount of hair loss.
