How does NAAF use personal information?
The National Alopecia areata Foundation respects the privacy of its online visitors. We do not collect personally identifiable information from a visitor unless they provide it to us voluntarily and knowingly. We do not require you to provide any information to us in order to view our site.
The National Alopecia Areata Foundation only gathers information that would identify the user (such as names, addresses, zip/postal codes, e-mail addresses, etc.) when the visitor voluntarily submits the information. The only time this information is requested is when the visitor subscribes to a mailing list, orders a publication or registers for an event. The information is used solely by the National Alopecia Areata Foundation for internal purposes, and it is never sold to a third party.
NAAF uses your personal information to provide you with information that you request, including brochures and newsletters, and to inform you of support group and awareness activities in your area. What Security Measures are in place?
All contact with NAAF is encrypted through the NAAF website. Personal information provided by users can include names, addresses, phone numbers and emails but not social security numbers or other identifiable financial information. In addition we have the benefit of the web management company and the security system they provide. All information is transmitted using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption. SSL is a proven coding system that lets browsers automatically encrypt, or scramble, data before it is sent.
The NAAF database of information is only available to NAAF staff in the NAAF office and is not on any mobile device including laptops. NAAF staff can only access the database with secure passwords in the secure office computers.
All Enews sent to users allows people the right to unsubscribe.
Registration Data for Message Boards
During registration for use of the Message Board, NAAF collects personal information including your name, address, email address, zip code and phone number. After providing NAAF with this information, you are no longer anonymous on the message boards.The National Alopecia Areata Foundation vigorously guards the privacy of the information it receives from individuals during the registration process. However, all personal, emotional, and medical information that you voluntarily reveal in the Message Boards is not protected by the NAAF privacy policy.
