Charlie Villanueva of the Detroit Pistons is doing a Meet and Greet with children who have alopecia areata before the Pistons play the New Orleans Hornets on Friday, March 1, at New Orleans Arena.  The effect of meeting a sports hero who shares the same autoimmune disease is immediate for these kids, boosting their self-esteem by reminding them they’re as good as any other boy or girl.  Too often a child with alopecia areata is bullied and the chance to meet Charlie Villanueva, to learn from his example, is an invaluable experience.

The Hornets are offering a special group rate but we must have a minimum of 15 in attendance.

NBA Player Charlie Villanueva, Detroit Pistons, was diagnosed with Alopecia at the age of 13.  He has partnered with the National Alopecia Areata Foundation and routinely participates in Meet & Greet events before his games.
